Take Action: How Did Your Members of Congress Vote?
Last week, Congress passed and President Trump signed into law the budget reconciliation bill that includes cuts to Medicaid and food assistance that we have been advocating against for months.
While this is not the outcome we wanted, we must continue fighting for a world in which people with disabilities and their families have access to the support and services that they need.
Help us hold lawmakers accountable for their vote.
This bill will make life much more difficult for many people with disabilities and their families. It includes:
Nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts, about 20% of the federal Medicaid budget. Nearly 17 million will lose coverage.
Nearly $200 billion in cuts to SNAP food assistance.
A new private school voucher program that will make it more difficult for students with disabilities to receive a free, appropriate public education.
Take action by:
Thanking lawmakers who voted to protect these vital programs.
Urging lawmakers who supported the cuts to understand the impact of their vote and listen to the needs of their constituents.
You can make a difference in protecting the health, independence, and dignity of people with disabilities. Let’s make sure Congress hears that these programs matter!
